This late 19th Century Black Forest collector’s cabinet shows a carved door with an elaborate centre panel depicting a 17/18th courting couple in a garden setting. The panel is made of pressed board. Behind the door is a set of 12 pigeon holes for collectables. The base of the cabinet comprises a drawer standing on turned bun feet. The top is a carved frieze of a bird in foliage flanked by turned finials. The cabinet is carved all over with foliate designs, principally Swiss style flannel flowers and vines. The cabinet is in good, as found, condition and the finish is original. There are a few small losses to the carving. The dimensions are 670 mm H x 440 mm W x 200 mm D  |
